Calathea Lancifolia Rattlesnake
Calathea lancifolia, more commonly known as the Rattlesnake plant, Peacock plant, or Zebra plant, is a unique evergreen perennial native to Brazil. Common to all species of Calathea, its leaves are long and narrow with ruffled edges, resembling a slithering rattlesnake. The markings are an interesting ladder of dark green and white ellipses. The underside of the leaves is deep purple. What’s more interesting is, the leaves fold up at night, resembling Prayer plants. It is widely cultivated as a houseplant in temperate regions because of the beautiful, striking patterns of its leaves.
